Toast Altrincham Review – Where (Nearly) Everything is Served on Toast

November 14, 2017 Daniel Kelly Leave a Comment

Toast Altrincham

Toast, A new ‘conceptual dining experience’ opens in Altrincham

Situated in the old Barclays Bank Building close to Goose Green area of Altrincham, the team at Toast Altrincham have spent the last 18 months getting everything ready for launch.

Co-Owner and Front of House Justin Orange (twin brother of Take That’s Jason Orange) will be a recognisable face to many after previously working in favourite NQ haunt Teacup Kitchen.

Head Chef Edward Carr, whose notable CV includes stints at The Fat Duck and Eleven Madison Park, has put together an unconventional menu.

Food at Toast Altrincham

Taking Inspiration from the ‘concept eating experiences’ of New York, the menu at Toast offers your usual Breakfast and Brunch staples all served on slices on Toast, even the desserts!

Coffee Time

Prices start at a reasonable £5 for Eggs Your Way, or Eggs on Toast to you and me all the way up to £9.50 for the priciest dishes. Including your morning coffee, you can expect to pay circa £10 per person – with around half the menu being veggie total.

Mushrooms and Avocado on Toast

I opted for the Mushrooms and Avocado on toast, a pan-fried mushroom mix served with avocado, topping a heavily buttered slice of crunchy toast. Well-balanced with a simply sumptuous medley of mushrooms, I would happily order the dish again.

I did read online that they even serve student classic Beans on Toast (not the Heinz variety) but it wasn’t listed on the menu.

Observations

  • Although I ordered a cappuccino, I was brought over a latte. I even checked the receipt to make sure they took it right. Why does this keep happening!?
  • For those wanting something a little stronger, Toast does indeed have a small selection of Beers, Wines and Ciders, although they do sadly shut their doors at 6 pm. Wouldn’t be surprised to see them opening later in the near future.
  • It would be fantastic if you could choose what type of bread was used in your meal.
  • No vegan options currently listed on the menu 🙁

After soft-launching last month, Toast Altrincham is open Monday-Saturday 08:00-18:00. Let me know what you think in the comments/ Instagram/ Twitter.
