Indy Man Beer Con – The Best Beer Festival in Manchester

Indy Man Beer Con - second room

What is Indy Man Beer Con?

If you prefer your beer and cider over wine then the Independent Manchester Beer Convection, otherwise known as Indy Man Beer Con, is the event for you.

Hosted every year at the Victoria Baths, a stunning Grade II listed building, the event aims to host some of the best breweries from across the world all under one roof.

Indy Man Beer Con is organised by the teams behind Port Street Beer House, Common and the Beagle with the aim of showing the exciting and dynamic part of craft beer industry – something that you don’t see enough of at other beer festivals.

The event is a fantastic showcase of local favourite and forward-thinking breweries offering pretty much every version of beer and cider you can think of.

How Indy Man Beer Con Works

If you’ve been to other beer festivals in the past you should have an idea of how this works. On your arrival, you will be given a glass to use throughout your session. To get a drink first you need to get to tokens. Each token is priced at £2.50 (as of the 2017 event) and can be exchanged for a beer at any of the stalls in the three rooms. You can also buy 11 tokens for £25, a10% discount.

Sessions run from Thursday to Sunday with each session lasting 4 hours, except on Sundays where there is usually only 1 session for 6 hours.

Tickets are priced at a very reasonable £8.50 to £13.50 – If you would like to attend every event (!!!) the full festival ticket is priced at £50.

How expensive is the Beer?

Drinks at IMBC are served at 1/3 a pint making the price of a standard ‘pint’ of beer £7.50. However, the variety of drinks on offer and the sheer strength of beers available (the strongest I tried was a rather ridiculous 17%) still make it a good deal.

Anything else happening on the day?

Expect top Manchester DJs and excellent street food vendors to also be present at each session. I did spot a Gin stand at 2017 too, but if that’s what you are after this is not the event for you.

Any tips for the day?

  • If you are after trying a particular beer or cider it pays to get there early. The most popular of beers tend to run out in the last hour.
  • Looking for the perfect beer? Indy Man Beer Con has an app to help you find the right one. Check the App Store for more
  • If you want to avoid the worst of the crowds the Thursday and Sunday sessions are the one to go for.
  • Closer to the event check out the Indy Man Beer Con website and the Twitter page for the latest up to minute news and updates

All event details are correct as of December 2017. We will update this page with further info for upcoming events when it is available.
