With the winter season upon us and Christmas just around the corner, there’s nothing more satisfying than cooking up a tasty winter soup to keep you going.
If you’re looking for the perfect winter soup recipe we’ve got just the thing. Bill’s Restaurant have created a wholesome Sweet Potato and Ginger Soup, from Bill’s Spinningfields new winter menu.
This hearty soup is straightforward to create with just a few fresh ingredients, making it ideal for a cold winter night.

- 3 peeled and diced sweet potatoes
- 20g peeled and thinly sliced ginger
- 1 thinly sliced white onion
- 5g vegetable stock powder
- 2g turmeric
- 800ml water
- 30ml vegetable oil
- Salt and pepper
Serves 5 // Suitable for Vegans and Vegetarians
Take a large pan. Cook the onions and ginger in the oil for about 5 minutes till soft.
Add the diced sweet potatoes and cook for a further 10 minutes.
Next add the turmeric, veg powder and water. Bring the water to the boil then turn the heat down.
Simmer till the sweet pots are cooked through, blend the added salt and pepper to taste.
Enjoy on a cold day with some crusty bread.
